Riding Home after show

So many stories with Rex, but here's one he and I just talked about recently.. I was in the group Load Limit with Rex. On the way home from a New Years eve show at about 3 a.m., Rex was driving, I was sitting shot gun and our sax player Warren was in the back of our high cube van with all the equipment. We were coming down a large hill in the dark and cold and snow. There was a curve at the bottom. As we approached the curve, suddenly a huge herd of horses ran onto the highway. I put my feet on the dash and prepared for impact but somehow Rex managed to screech and turn and slide through the entire herd without injury to anyone. We ended up a little in the ditch but not enough we couldn't get out. As we gathered ourselves and began laughing and talking about what just happened, we heard a muffled yelling. It sounded human..... AHAH Warren! We ran to the back of the van and rolled the door up. It was like trying to find an earthquake victim. We had a lot of equipment back there. When we finally uncovered Warren. The first words out of his mouth were. "I saved the piano!". You couldn't have written a funnier line if you meant to. We laughed numerous times through the years about that one..
